Sayulita, Mexico is a laid-back coastal town that is celebrated for its diversity and relaxed yet cosmopolitan vibe.
One of Mexico’s favorite surfing destinations, Sayulita welcomes people from all over the world who love the sea as much as they love delicious food and rich culture. Explore the flavors and fashions of Sayulita, as you walk around and take in all the creativity that defines this vibrant, colorful town.
Here are a few of the shops you may want to check out while indulging in this cultural hub within the Riviera Nayarit.
PACHA MAMA
Legend tells of a French gypsy family of nine brothers and sisters, whose parents were true wanderlusters and traveled the world with their tribe. One summer, when staying in St. Barths, they decided to buy a boat, and then for the next 10 years they sailed the oceans until finally, three of the sisters, Nathalie, Sofie and Marie decided to settle in Sayulita.
Since then, the famous Mignot sisters, also known as Les Gazelles, have become the epitome of the Gypset lifestyle. Their boutique, half art gallery, half clothing store, is full of hand-embroidered garments and naturally dyed textiles created in Mexico, along with pieces from all over the world, such as their iconic Tahitian black pearl necklaces.
You would recognize their store by the dozens of dreamcatchers that are already a symbol of Sayulita and the boho-chic style that the Mignot sisters brought three decades ago.
EVOKE THE SPIRIT
When American designer Brittney Borjeson booked a short vacation by the beach and chose a small town on the pacific coast of Mexico as a destination, she never thought she would fall in love forever.
She felt so inspired by the artistic vibe of Sayulita, that decided to change the fast-paced life she had been living between Boston and New York, for the laid-back atmosphere of this tiny place.
Evoke the Spirit was then born as a way to channel her creativity with a mix of pieces designed by her and others chosen in a careful curation process during her field trips across Mexico.
Within this gorgeous boutique, you will find upscale creations that have been lovingly handmade in honor of the great spirits, including fabulous yarn-painted (ceramic) animal skulls.
From pieces for your “casa” through to textiles and stunning jewelry, Evoke the Spirit is a must-visit for luxury Mexican finds.
REVOLUCIÓN DEL SUEÑO
Revolución del Sueño is the resulting output of a similar story, this time starred by the French couple Laetitia Dijan and her husband Nicolas who moved from Paris to Sayulita with their children after a family beach vacation.
Their boutique is a pop of color wherever you turn. With their three brands: Revolución del Sueño, A Mano Project, and Las Bayadas, they cover everything from hand-embroidered jean jackets to beach bags, fancy clutches, beach blankets, cushions and other pieces of home decor.
If you are a fan of bold colors and big patterns, this unique boutique should definitely be on your shopping list. Their colorful pieces will make a statement on any corner of your home or to any outfit you wear.
NAKAWÉ TRADING
This homewares, beachwear and jewelry brand combines the trendy design and the ancient techniques of two coastal towns across the Pacific ocean Byron Bay, Australia and Sayulita, Mexico. They pride themselves on their strong commitment to ethically made and fairly traded products.
We particularly love their modern clean approach to traditional Wixarika beaded jewelry. Their long earrings, necklaces and bracelets in neutral colors, such as white, pale pink, black and aquamarine, with eye-catching metallic accents in gold and rose gold, are a must that will pair well with any outfit, either casual or formal.
As the creators of Nakawé explain “these precious works of art are coming directly from small Mexican communities to you” and every purchase empowers them to preserve their traditional art and cultural heritage.
R2 FASHION
This charming boutique is building the very best “beach vibe” with fashion that is representative of a beautiful Bohemian style.
Rosalba Rivera, the R2 fashion designer responsible for these fantastic boho-chic garments, has built a remarkable career inclusive of more than a decade working for fashion’s biggest names in Los Angeles.
Now, she has brought her passion to Sayulita and it’s translated into gorgeous breezy outfits for your style-inspired vacation as well as homewares that are representative of Mexico’s rich embroidery traditions.
MANYANA
This store is the exact definition of trendy. With non-gender garments designed for both men and women, Manyana offers the ultimate selection of timeless pieces you can wear for any variety of occasions. Explore subdued fashions with beautiful blended fabrics and colors that exude earthbound inspiration.
In their store, you won’t only find clothing, but also sunglasses, contemporary pottery, ceramic dishes, and copper hanging lamps, everything in the cleanest minimalistic aesthetic.
As the creators behind the brand say, Manyana “isn't just artisanal. It is modern Mexico.”
SAYULITA SOL JEWELRY
Designer Kimberley "Flor" Keehn, the hands and heart behind Sayulita Sol, grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began making jewelry as a young girl, and later, professionally in 1995.
Now, what started as a single store in central Sayulita in 2004 has since grown into one of the area’s best-loved jewelry destinations. Flor’s designs are clean, simple, wearable, and unique; all made by hand in sterling silver, 14K gold, gold-fill and gems that match every color of the rainbow.
Sayulita Sol Jewelry is full of modern boho-chic carefully crafted statement jewelry you will love for many years (and occasions) to come!
ARTEFAKT PROJECT
Their mission, in their own words, is “to give a voice to the indigenous artists that give Mexico its true depth and richness”.
This small gallery features original Mexican art, handloom woven textiles, and home accessories such as Otomi cushions & tapestries, hand-selected textiles from Chiapas, Oaxaca mezcal vessels and shots, Huichol jewelry, handmade candles, bedspreads, and terra cotta pots.
If you have a passion for authentic ethnic Mexican art, this is a must-do stop.
SAYULITA WINE SHOP
Don’t let the name fool you. The Sayulita Wine Shop offers a lot more than just wines. In fact, they not only carry fine tequilas and artisanal mezcals but also less-known spirits such as Raicilla, Sotol, and Bacanor.
This boutique liquor store sources its rare spirits from all regions of Mexico, so you can taste the hard work of local farmers and the robust flavors of field-to-glass sourcing, all while learning about each new product from a certified sommelier.
The place also has a little bit of a flea market with a curated collection of vintage flasks that will be the perfect gift for any liquor lover. A visit to the Sayulita Wine Shop is the perfect excuse to take home true gems that you won’t find anywhere else.
PALÚ ART FOR YOUR HEART
Mexican artists Paulina Gutierrez and Ana Luna are the hands and hearts behind this charming gallery. In their paintings, some in neutral tones, some colorful with gilded details, you can feel the echo of Mother Earth, the warmth of the sand, the sound of the crashing waves and the hues of the tropical jungle.
Their little store built half inside an old Volkswagen van, half under their outdoor pergola, features a selection of hand-painted illustrations on canvas, pieces of wood, and even pebbles with a style we would define as beach-naive.
Inspired by their children and the nature around them, they create one-of-a-kind treasures to keep near to your heart. Getting a piece from Palú is getting #goodvibes from #womenwhopaint :)

If you have babies, toddlers, or girls at home, Tiendita Hola Sayulita is the perfect one-stop shop for buying take-home gifts for your loved ones. Everything here is hand-embroidered, hand-sewn, and hand-painted by a collective group of artists from different parts of Mexico.
